To activate first connect thermostat to wifi, then download the Nest app on smart phone or tablet, once downloaded app will ask you to create account with username password and then prompt you to enter entry key code (which you get from the thermostat). Once you enter the code, this is considered the activate date which is when the warranty starts.
** There is no difference between the Nest Pro and Regular Nest.**

3. Trim Kit (cream color plastic) - there is no metal wall plate.
